Switching gears in a legal career? Yeah, it sounds tough. But get this – around 60% of the jobs we see today weren't even a thing a few decades back, US Census data says so. Think IP lawyers snagging gigs as product counsel. Or commercial counsel getting savvy with data privacy. Even paralegals and litigators stepping up their game to become legal ops experts and chiefs of staff. And don’t get me started on the boom in niches like ALSPs (Alternative Legal Service Providers) and legal tech. With all the buzz around AI and other fresh fields, there’s gonna be a heap of new roles popping up, far outstripping the folks available to fill them. So, if you’re on your toes, there’s no reason to be stuck in a rut. Plenty of fresh paths out there for the taking. 👀🔎

This was fun and if you know me, you know I love giving back. Thanks to Colin C. and Nicholas Austin for having me. Top tips shared: 1. Don’t forget to pick your head up and look around you. Realize where you are and who you are with. Both of those things will be important to the journey. 2. Don’t wait on tomorrow to do what you can start today. That initiative that you had to sign up for law school? Use that same drive to start a project or advocate for a position you care about. Just because you happen to be a student in the moment does not take away your right to voice your opinion and fight for what you believe in. 3. Begin with an end in mind… even while being mindful the plan may change. Have some idea about where you want to end up so the people in your network can understand how to help you get there. And finally, 4. Give yourself some grace. It’s ok if you don’t have it all figured out yet. It’s ok if you don’t get it right the first time. Everyday we get a chance and a choice to be better than yesterday. Choose wisely.

„𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐀𝐈 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫!“Now, that would be a headline, wouldn’t it?OpenAI has substantially staffed up its legal department recently, with amazing hires from U.S. tech giants Amazon, Microsoft, Stripe, Google, Dropbox, Apple, Uber, and others. Imagine a global powerhouse and trailblazer in the development of artificial intelligence including some 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘯 folks in their in-house legal/executive team.Their business may be U.S.-based and their focus may be there, too. But their user base and impact is clearly global and their products are immensely popular in #Europe in particular. There is no public record of legal positions in their new Dublin and London offices. And while I am sure that sooner or later they will open a place in Berlin (or another German city), Brussels, Paris, etc., there isn’t anything official yet. Their policy/lobbying engagement has certainly already reached Europe. And their business model and products will need to take European laws and regulations into account in any event. But wouldn’t it also be great to know that their internal legal meetings included a voice and input from an established and experienced, well-connected, and highly engaged European #IP and #genAI #lawyer, too? 🇪🇺I mean already now, not later. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸: 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 #𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲?If you think they should then let’s help them. 👉 Please drop a line in the comments about why you would support this idea.Don’t only write the obvious things like “Oliver is charming, smart, and good looking 😏”, but give it some real considerations, will ya?!#web3lex #lawyers4ai

The crux of eDiscovery procedures is maintaining the integrity of all evidence. In a recent filing related to its antitrust lawsuit against Amazon, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) criticizes the tech giant for the widespread deletion of Signal messages by its executives following the revelation of an investigation. The FTC alleges that Amazon's failure to preserve these messages until over fifteen months after learning about the investigation indicates deliberate spoliation of evidence. Despite Amazon's claims of cooperation, the FTC suspects that relevant information may have been intentionally destroyed or neglected, prompting further legal action. This development underscores ongoing regulatory scrutiny over companies' communication practices and their implications for legal proceedings.Follow and stay posted for the latest eDiscovery updates!📖Click on the link to read the full article👇https://lnkd.in/gSXFpbh6 🌏A Trusted E-Discovery Partner, Intellectual Data : https://zrr.kr/WAJ5#ediscovery#e디스커버리#이디스커버리#legal #리걸 #legaltech #리걸테크 #특허소송 #국제특허소송 #국제소송 #특허분쟁 #국제특허분쟁 #인텔렉추얼데이터

Last Friday, during the tree planting holiday, I engaged in a candid conversation with a lawyer friend of mine.
